Dynamic Wrist Extension Orthosis

A wrist extension orthosis can be used after radial nerve injuries or in a late stage of wrist extensor tendon repair. The design can also serve as a functional orthosis for patients with upper motor neuron syndrome.

 

Blocking Orthosis following Extensor Tendon Repair Surgery

This blocking orthosis uses the controlled passive motion technique.

Fabricated for a patient who underwent a tendon transfer surgery to improve hand function. This design combines a whale orthosis to support the thumb in a palmar abduction position and a short dynamic cuff to facilitate thumb IP extension. An extra reinforcement in Orficast More was added to restrict flexion of the wrist.

 

Combination of a Whale Design and an Anti-Ulnar Drift Orthosis

This orthosis for patients with rheumatoid arthritis supports the thumb and helps to improve the alignment of deviated fingers.

 

Long Opponens Orthosis

An orthosis that helps with the radial sided wrist pain that often accompanies De Quervain’s syndrome.

 

Hand Based Radial Gutter Orthosis

This hand based orthosis offers stabilisation for the protection of metacarpal fractures of digits 2 or 3.

 

Hand Based Ulnar Gutter Orthosis

A hand based orthosis for the protection of metacarpal fractures of digits 4 or 5.

Debby is also an adjunct professor at the Occupational Therapy Department of Touro College in NYC and has written many book chapters in the field of hand therapy and multiple articles for hand therapy journals, including the ASHT Times and the Journal of Hand Therapy. She has published a new textbook on orthotic fabrication together with Dr. Katherine Schofield, entitled “Orthotic Design and Fabrication for the Upper Extremity: A Practical Guide”.
