UNRWA thanks Orfit for donation of orthotic equipment

UNRWA

At Orfit Industries, our goal is to help as many patients as possible anywhere in the world. In 2015, we decided to help the UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, in providing immediate assistance to patients who required orthotics and prosthetics support in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. For this purpose we donated thermoplastic splinting materials and accessories (around 1,600 items, including heat guns, thermoplastic sheets, Orficast, precuts, water baths, …) and we provided training to two physiotherapists.

UNRWA has now sent us a thank you message to let us know what they have been able to do with the donated materials:

“Both the West Bank and Gaza found the materials very useful, easy to fabricate, simple in remodeling and leading to an expansion of the current range of possibilities for splint fabrication. They were particularly useful for patients with post traumatic deformities, such as fracture and nerve injuries.”

In addition, UNRWA informed us that the physiotherapists who attended a three-day training on the application of thermoplastic splints in our head office in Wijnegem have already been able to train four other therapists in the field.

We are very glad that we could extend a helping hand and that our products and training made a difference.
